Dr. Prasatthong
Dr. Dan
Prasatthong grew up in Pinellas County, Florida. He attended Shorecrest
Preparatory School from kindergarten through high school. Dr. Dan’s daughter
also graduated as his legacy from Shorecrest. Upon graduating in 1984, he
received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Emory University in
Atlanta, Georgia. After college, Dr. Dan attended dental school at Case Western
Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
It was during his training there that he
met Dr. David Johnson, the director of Pediatric Dentistry, and discovered his
own passion for helping children. Dr. Johnson was the “father of baby bottle
tooth decay” and the liaison between the two pediatric dental associations at
the time. He educated Dr. Dan in the world of healthcare politics as well as
being the leading expert in the field of nursing caries. Dr. Dan Prasatthong
received his specialty from both Case Western and the world–renowned Rainbow Babies and
Children’s Hospital while serving as Chief Resident.
Upon graduation in 1994, Dr. Dan returned home and joined Dr. Myles Levitt, who had been established in St. Petersburg since 1973. The two grew the practice into the high-quality and child-friendly dental office it is today. In 1994, Dr. Dan also became a surgeon at All Children’s Hospital, treating the dental needs of cancer and cardiac patients, as well as emergency patients. Eventually, he became the head of the Dental Department and served the maximum of three terms on the Board of Trustees for All Children’s Hospital (now John Hopkins All Children’s Hospital). For over 20 years he has provided services to the underprivileged in our community. Dr. Dan served as the Director of Dentistry for Head Start and the P.A.R.C. dentist for special needs patients.
Outside of work, Dr. Dan raced cars professionally for 15 years in several series a passion he inherited from his father. After hanging up his helmet, he and his co-driver needed another hobby and found the world of Triathlons. Dr. Dan has completed over 20 Ironman events and is always training for the next season. He claims they are a great way to stay in shape while getting a small vacation.
Dr. Dan is totally committed to helping children and teenagers. Always trying to improve his craft, he has added the Solea Laser. He trains with Solea experts and hopes to expand all of the latest wonderful techniques into his practice.
